He found the cinematography to be beautiful and was pleased that the singing was not lip synched. The story was unsatisfying and had unrelatable characters. After several twists and turns, Binodini elopes with Mahendra, leaving the entire family in turmoil. The analogies drawn to explain emotion in this book, is a powerful instrument that fixes one's attention in an ungiving fashion. She returns to her village and lives there for a couple of months until she sees one of her relations passing by there on her way to somewhere else.

When in love, they can be both desperately devoid of sense, and they can be nervous. But they strike up a camaraderie which is resented by Mahendra, which brings about a new found frigidity in their friendship. She writes a letter to Behari that she'll be waiting for him in Kashi. At Kashi, Binodini meets Behari who, after some incidents, agrees to marry her.

Chokher is of or in the eye, bali e is the grain of sand. There are times when the book tests the modern reader's willingness to suspend disbelief, but they are neither frequent nor are they inconceivable in the period the book is set.
